Today’s music. Simon & Garfunkel’s Homeward Bound. Perfect.

With Sharon rather immobile we’ve had to submit to what’s easiest not what’s best.
Check out at the hotel is 12pm. Flight check-in is 3.30pm. So it’s the hotel bar for a slow lunch at midday and click our heels until going over to T2, which is only about 100 metres away.
Pete popped out mid-morning to speak with Singapore Airlines. They will facilitate getting Sharon checked in easily/early and also changed Pete’s seat for him.
It’s quite good being an Assisted Passenger. You get wheelchaired to the front of every queue: immigration, check in, bag screening, boarding, etc. Someone handles all the bags – including Pete’s . Special service and attention on the plane. It’s all good.
A bit of gift shopping saw us in the Singapore Airlines lounge about 5.30pm. Then it was snacks and drinks until 7.45pm. Around 7pm we disappeared into the accessible toilet to administer Sharon’s blood thinner jab.
Singapore Airlines were great, really looking after Sharon and making everything as painless as possible. Likewise Air NZ when transiting after Singapore.
All in all, uneventful, very manageable flights and into Auckland on time. As usual Pete watched 7 or 8 movies. He recommends I’m Still Here.
Despite breakfast on the plane, we over-ate in Auckland‘a Koru Lounge. We administered more blood thinners. Then it was the flight to Nelson, which was marked by the extraordinary behaviour of two customers. They embarked and disembarked with their portable Bluetooth speaker blaring to everyone (Bowie). For a while they had it going inflight, despite the fact they were wearing headphones!

Picked up the car, quick shop for essentials – our 5-a-day (milk, bread, butter, chocolate, wine).

Unpack, shower, tea. Dead on our feet. In bed by 6.15pm.
Awake at 10.30pm.

Jet lag is still a beast – all over again for the second time in a fortnight.
