The Last Bookstore & The Last Supper.

Breakfast with Fiona, Hugh & Mark at Cranachan. A better menu than Cafe Fame and nice food. If you can eat! Which Mark couldn’t – feeling a bit queasy.

Mark could at least manage a coffee.
The full Scottish breakfast.

One reason for Cranachan was its proximity to Mr Harold & Son. Fiona had bought a ring and had to collect it after resizing.

Fiona did NOT purchase the GBP350,000 ring in the window.

And that was it. Mark, Fiona and Hugh said their farewells and returned to the hotel, to pack and leave Bonnie Scotland.

Sharon & Pete had a lazy wander through the shops of Buchanan and Argyle Streets. Gifts for the whanau in NZ (Sharon) and a failed search for more books (Pete).

After returning Sharon to the hotel, Pete went on one last circuit of Glasgow’s shops. He had two goals while here – a tartan neck gaiter and more books.

First stop after searching Google Maps was The Last Bookstore.

Outside The Last Bookstore, Hope Street.

Exciting…
An intriguing entry.
Aah! It’s not a bookshop, but a bar.

After that disappointment refreshment was required.

Looking good…
More whiskey than you could shake a stick at.

But no luck on the shopping front. Pete returned to the hotel empty handed.

For dinner we returned to The Duke’s Umbrella. Which this time was a disaster. Very busy, staff issues, slow, average food. A shame.

It was Sunday roast day, but for starters we added pea fritters (Sharon) and haggis quesadillas (Pete).

We walked/crutched to our hotel in the rain. Our friends had all left Glasgow. Pete’s relatives would be cosy at home. Our hiking holiday had been a pipe dream. All there was left to do was pack for tomorrow’s departure.
